“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

— Mary Oliver

Welcome, and thank you for visiting. My name is Kirsten and I provide a safe and caring counselling service in person in Sandbach, Cheshire, on the phone, and online

About me

I am a person centred counsellor working in person, online or on the phone, offering a calm space for you to discuss things in your life you might be struggling with. I will support you to explore your feelings and make change, to live the life you want.

I can help with a range of issues you might be facing and we can talk about your needs in an initial 20 minute appointment, free of charge. I have worked with people who have required counselling for the following issues:

  • Weight loss
  • Low self-esteem
  • Low confidence
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Grief and bereavement
  • Childhood abuse
  • Health Anxiety
  • Anger management
  • Adjustment following life changes e.g., retirement

I offer short, longer term and time limited counselling. I offer a flexible approach and can meet in person in Sandbach, on the phone, or online.

I can work creatively using poetry, art, music, or something of your choice to support you to explore your feelings. As a person centred counsellor, I aim to provide you with space and support to help you on your journey of self-discovery. Person centred counselling is based on empathy, honesty and a non-judgemental approach and I aim to use my skills to provide an opportunity for you to reflect on things in your life you might want to change. I offer an opportunity to explore your situation in a safe and confidential environment.

I am a registered member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Before I began my journey to become a counsellor, I was an award-winning nurse educator with over 30 years of nursing experience. As a nurse, I was always fascinated by the power of the therapeutic relationship and how empathy, kindness and caring could help someone to feel less vulnerable and more in control of their situation. This passion was the drive for me to become a counsellor and support individuals to make change in their lives.

I am a certified ‘Journal to the Self’ Instructor and Writing for Wellbeing facilitator. I have a lot of experience of group facilitation having worked in nurse education since 2001. I am a Professor of Nursing Education and have undertaken extensive research into the power of writing for wellbeing among health and social care staff and students.

I am a current member of Lapidus International, The Person Centred Association and the World Association for Person Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy and Counselling. I am also a Nursing and Midwifery Council registrant.

About Counselling and Psychotherapy

Sometimes we can feel like we have no choice or control over our lives, or we can struggle to navigate the challenges we face. Counselling can provide a safe environment to explore your feelings and work out how to move forward and think differently about life’s issues. Together we can work on things that are important to you, in a calm and supportive way.

Fees & sessions

Sessions last for 50 minutes and cost £50 per session. I offer a small number of spaces at a reduced rate for those on a low income or for students. Please contact me to discuss availability. I offer a 20 minute assessment appointment free of charge, when we can meet and discuss your needs before committing to counselling. If you need to cancel an appointment I require 24 hours notice, otherwise you will still need to pay for any sessions missed. I accept bank transfer.

I offer journaling and writing for wellbeing services to groups. Please contact me to discuss bespoke workshops for your workplace or community group. I am an experienced educator and can facilitate poetry/journaling workshops, which can be developed to suit your individual needs. Some themes might include, rediscovering motivation, time management, regaining control over our working lives and how to reduce stress and improve health and wellbeing.
